--> --> Two key administrators lose jobs SALEM (AP) - The administrator of Oregon's Senior and Disabled Services Division and his deputy have been fired by Bobby Mink, director of the state Humans Services Department. Mink said he told Roger Auerbach, the division chief since 1995, and deputy Daniel Kaplan that he wanted a change of leadership in the senior services agency. Mink said he and Auerbach "differ in fundamental management approaches." Mink, who announced the firings Tuesday, denied Auberbach's claim that Mink is dismissing managers to pave the way for a reorganization of the department that would eliminate division lines in an effort to streamline services. Auerbach and Kaplan had angered the Legislature's Joint Ways and Means human services subcommittee, which fashions the department budget. "I did not get the information I need to make budget decisions," said Rep. Jackie Winters, R-Salem, subcommittee chairwoman. The issue came to a head Saturday when the subcommittee asked about Medicaid reimbursements for seniors in assisted-living centers and lawmakers said Auerbach and Kaplan did not have answers lawmakers wanted. Auerbach said he was aware of criticism, but "we were moving along very well and hadn't gotten any negative feedback" on his management. Auerbach made $104,436 a year; Kaplan made $94,692. Lydia Lissman, an executive policy adviser to Human Services director Bob Mink, will serve as interim manager. Auerbach's departure is the second among Human Services division administrators since Mink replaced Gary Weeks in February. Dr. Martin Wasserman, head of the department's Health Division, resigned a few weeks after Mink took over, citing differences in management styles. Email your...
