A mechanical problem sparked a fire under the hood of a 1989 Chevy Blazer that caused an unknown amount of damage to the vehicle. Ashland Police and Fire Monday 9:50 p.m. — Motorist ran over a pedestrian’s foot, 200 block of Oak Street. The motorist drove the victim to Ashland Community Hospital, then left without giving the victim his full name or phone number. Monday 4:20 p.m. — Bank returned counterfeit $100 travelers check to Perfect Solutions, 200 block of East Main Street. The crime may be connected to the use of several other forged travelers checks at local businesses. Monday 3:08 p.m. — Snowboard ($280 value) stolen between May and October in the Ashland area. Monday 2:50 p.m. — IPod ($300) stolen from locked vehicle parked in lower Lincoln Elementary School lot, 300 block of Beach Street. Someone threw a brick through the driver’s side window, stole the iPod, slashed three tires on the vehicle and ripped a window screen in the camper shell. The crime occurred between noon and 2 p.m. Monday 2:19 p.m. — Transient man, 35, cited for trespassing in the DMV lot, 700 block of Tolman Creek Road. The man parked his motor home in the lot and connected an electrical cord to an outlet on the exterior of the building. Monday 11:53 a.m. — Light bulbs stolen from exterior of Pacific Northwest Building and Design, 400 block of Beach Street. Monday 10:30 a.m. — CD player ($260 value), 150 CDs and a subwoofer ($275 value) stolen from locked vehicle parked overnight at Great American Pizza, 1400 block of Siskiyou Boulevard. Monday 8:50 a.m. — Five lawn decorations ($75 value) broken, 600 block of Normal Street. The vandalism occurred between 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday. Monday 8:37 a.m. — Graffiti found on two doors to the library at Ashland High School, 200 block of South Mountain Avenue. Friday — Approximately $5 in change stolen from unlocked vehicle, 1000 block of Beswick Way.
