June 2, 2005 Homeless needs exceed giving “This morning an 18-year-old homeless woman appeared in Municipal Court,” Jan Jansen, the community resource officer with the Ashland Police Department, wrote in a May 17 e-mail. Danielle Greear had been homeless for about six weeks when Jansen stepped in. Greear had been living with her grandmother, the only family member she still had contact with, but her grandmother had suffered a stroke, not received medical attention and gone downhill. She sold the family’s belongings and left without Greear. Back to the public hearing stage for Northlight project The Ashland Planning Commission last week voted five to two in favor of re-opening the hearing for the Northlight project to allow the developers to respond to last minute interpretations of the zoning ordinances by the city’s legal department.
