Main St. The eclipse is set to begin at 1:44 p.m. and reach its peak by 3:09 p.m. Filtered telescopes for viewing will be available, and solar viewing glasses will be available for $2 each beginning Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Northwest Nature Shop in Ashland. United Nations Day at SOU: Honduran singer, feminist and activist Karla Lara will perform as part of events commemorating United Nations Day, from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the Meese Room of Hannon Library, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. Providing the introduction will be professor James Phillips. The event will also include a screening of the documentary "Honduras, Crisis and Hope — An interview with Padre Melo." Peace Documentary: The documentary "Pray the Devil Back to Hell" will show at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Congregational United Church of Christ of Ashland, 717 Siskiyou Blvd. The film tells the story of a how women banded together to end civil war in Liberia.
