Betty was born June 22, 1926 in Sacramento, Calif. to Albert Guy Livingston and Rancy Odessa Collins Livingston. When Betty was four years old, her father Guy went to Honolulu to establish a home for his family, including her four half-siblings. They expected to relocate with him on the island, but the highly anticipated telegram from Hawaii brought news of his unexpected death. The family moved to Red Bluff, CA where Betty remained until 1944 when she married LeRoy Bedingfield August 12, 1944. The young couple moved to southern Oregon, settling in Eagle Point in 1953. Betty dedicated her adult years to family and extended close friends, her sorority sisters, and her community. Betty endlessly entertained family and friends with famed true stories of her childhood, beloved mother, siblings, and grandfather, and her early life with LeRoy. Children who attended her legendary Halloween parties treasured her renowned witch laugh and repertoire of games that required no props. She cared for many children in the community who still call her “Aunt” or “Grandma” including Curtis and Deanna Oswald and Erik and Christopher Ostmo. Betty was a creative and talented Camp Fire leader, PTA president, Eagle Point Historical Society board member, and fiercely devoted member and often “Outstanding Girl“ of her service sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Beta Nu chapter. In 1976 Betty chaired the Eagle Point Bicentennial celebration. Betty enjoyed friends and her seven-ounce Corona at Taco Tuesday in Ashland, as well as her friends from Ashland Bible Church. Betty leaves two daughters, Tanya Zaccone (Bill) and Lynn Wallis (Bob); four grandchildren, Jason (Tanya) Wallis, Travis (Katharina) Wallis, Maya (Lee) Madsen. and Amanda (Justin) Zaccone; two step-grandchildren Dana (Holly) and Janet Peercy (Doug); as well as several great-grandchildren. LeRoy preceded her in death in 1988. The family is thankful for many who enriched and eased her later life: breakfast buddy and long-time friend and confidante, Shirley Oswald; loyal neighbor Tom Chenowith; Asante–Ashland Hospice and Palliative Care Services for their loving care; and dear family friend Mary Ellen Funderburg, who helped the daughters care for Betty in her final days. Donations may be made to a charity of choice, or SMART (Start Making a Reader Today), a literacy organization for which Betty volunteered for many years, at 541-734-5628. According to Betty’s wishes, there will not be a service, but there will be a casual Open House gathering for family and friends on Saturday, August 29, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Lynn in Ashland.
