The Associated Press Here’s how State Sen. Kurt Schrader, D-Canby, and State Rep. Mary Nolan, D-Portland, the co-chairs of the Joint Ways and Means committee, would allocate the extra $152 million available under the May revenue forecast: Oregon University System : $8 million for general support $3 million for statewide services $3 million for the engineering and technology industry council $1 million for “other specified enhancements.” Higher Education Capital Construction : $25 million for debt service and building repair, to support an estimated $200 million in construction and renovation projects. Community Colleges : $35 million for general support $2 million for health care programs Department of Education : $10 million for Headstart, a prekindergarten program. Public Safety : $6 million for the judicial branch $4 million for defending criminal convictions Economic and Workforce Development : $5 million Reserves : $50 million for county services, fuel costs, economic uncertainties, one-time revenues.
