Grete Kohlmann Sutin Funeral services have been held for Grete Kohlmann Sutin, 86, of Medford, who died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford. Mrs. Sutin was born May 8, 1917, in Mosbach, Germany. In 1933, she fled Nazi persecution in her home country and learned cooking at a work camp in Holland. There she met Alexander "Sacha" Sutin, whom she married in 1936. The Sutin's subsequently moved to England and then to New York in 1938. In the early 1960s, when her children were teenagers, Mrs.. Sutin returned to work as a market researcher and then as a sales associate in retail housewares. Mrs. Sutin enjoyed travel, entertaining, and playing bridge with friends. Survivors include her son, Philip Sutin of Olivette, Mo.; her daughter Vivian Stubblefield of Ashland; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Sutin was buried Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Hebrew Memorial Park cemetery near Detroit. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.
