We do eyelash extensions that are semi-permanent. They are synthetic and are glued, one-by-one, to existing lashes. It takes an hour and lasts about two months. They become shed along with the shedding of your natural lashes. It costs $70 to $120. What do lash extensions do for you? They open up your eyes. It’s an amazing, huge change. They look very natural and will replace mascara. You can still use eye liner and eye shadow. You can still shower and swim. They won’t fall out. You look younger. There’s a twinkle in your eye — and yes, men can get them. How’s business and who are your clientele? We’re doing real good. We opened in June 2013. I think we’re the first such business in town. We’re booked three weeks out and I just trained two more technicians to help. You have to be an esthetician or cosmetologist to do this. Our clientele tends to be women 40 to 60. Middle-age people benefit most because, with age, you start losing the hair you want and getting the hair you don’t want. This seems a discretionary expense. Is Ashland affording it? Yes. And you have to be able to afford the maintenance. The business climate here is really great. I was really surprised. I wasn’t sure it would be popular and a success, but it is. Tell us about you. I came from Mammoth, Calif., in July 2012, looking for a simpler, slower mountain town. I just bought a home in Medford.
