During this divisive, contentious presidential election year partisan factions are bitterly divided over Bush vs. Kerry for the oval office. Yet, the third party alternative to the Republicrats is never mentioned by the establishment news media and status quo. Americans do have a choice afterall. Why vote for the lesser of two evils? An alternative to Bush and Kerry exists in the person of Michael A. Peroutka for President of the United States, and his vice presidential running mate, Chuck Baldwin. Both are Constitution Party candidates for the highest office in the land. Readers of The Tidings can access the CP Web site at www.constitutionparty.org and read not only about these two candidates, but the entire platform of the alternative third party to the Republicans and Democrats. If a concerned voter doesn't have access to a computer and has further questions about the Constitution Party, then they can call (503) 543-7312. The future of our republic is at stake! Farmer Ashland Kerry's cooked books claim is highly unlikely Concerning the flawed intelligence that the U.S. & UK went to war on, then I thought the comment by Lord Butler, who chaired the U.K. inquiry into the matter, rang true. He stated "The clearest evidence that the British government hadn't got an intention to mislead is that it would have been a very foolish thing to do, to say that these weapons were there, when as a result of the war, the fact that whether they were or not was going to be established so soon." I think this is a telling reason as to how unlikely it was that the U.S. administration similarly "cooked the books," as is inferred by Senator Kerry. Stanley Jones Ashland Proudly taking credit for Bush effigy in parade For the record, John Kerry supporters had absolutely nothing to do with the "Overthrow King George II" entry in the Ashland Fourth of July Parade. The Hirsh Family, our friends and co-revolutionaries take full responsibility for reminding everyone that in 1776 "We the People" became fed up with the injustices of their government and did an amazing thing - they overthrew a despotic ruler and instituted a democracy. We are fed up with our current George II and note some striking parallels between his reign and that of King George III, including the denial of trial by jury, taking away our civil liberties, rendering the military independent and superior to the civil power, and "Transporting large armies of foreign mercenaries [think Halliburton here] to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny - totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation." Now, as for being offended by tossing a stuffed suit in the air, we politely suggest an immediate transfusion to restore the parade watcher's sense of humor. Our family happens to express our patriotism not by a blind veneration of whoever is in charge, but by reveling in the unique American institutions of free speech, near universal suffrage and wanton silliness. The Hirsh Family Gary, Terry, Wendy, Jamie, Jordan and Jessica Ashland and Talent Ashland towing laws mystifying, need overhaul I am very frustrated about the question of 'towing' laws here in Ashland. This towing company has a problem with whether it is legal or illegal to tow a vehicle where there are no posted signs, "tow away zone," hazard, endangerment, abandoned, etc. In the last year me, or my family members, have been towed illegally at the cost of 150 dollars each time, where the tow person's excuse was "he told me to." Now we all know what would happen if we were made to shoplift, or punch someone in the nose. How many times have the rights been violated of good hard working people because the towing company wants to pay for a $70,000 wrecker truck, and questionable confiscations? How many times were you or a friend in this quagmire? It is bad enough, but to deal with them to get your vehicle or a decent reason for it. I was very upset to hear how this little girl was treated and had to beg to get a guitar out of the sun � begged for it, and how her mom was treated when she went to pick it up with her.
