--> --> Eagle Point takes down Ashland netters Ashland Daily Tidings EAGLE POINT - The Ashland High volleyball team was knocked off by a much-improved Eagle Point squad 15-8, 16-14 Tuesday night. The Eagles and Grizzlies are now tied for second place at 3-2. Going into this year Eagle Point hadn't won an SOC match in three years. "They were a really good team last night," Grizz head coach Josh Rohlfing said. "They hit one into the net in Game 2 and I said to my assistant `I think that's their first error.'" That wasn't the story for Ashland as they committed 18 attack errors, leading to the Eagle Point victory. "It's just unbelievable," Rohlfing said. "Every match we come out and block a ball onto our own side. It's a complete lack of focus." Ashland hosts Klamath Union (0-4) Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. Ashland Boys Soccer At Grants Pass, the Grizzlies remained perfect on the year as they knocked off Grants Pass 2-1 Tuesday in the Southern Oregon Conference opener. Ashland now has an overall mark of 5-0. Senior striker Scott Beaver was fouled twice in the penalty area and senior Matt Sharp converted both first half penalty kicks to give the Grizzlies the victory. The two penalty kicks were sandwiched around a Grants Pass score by Sten Erickson in the 28th minute. The Grizzlies will host South Medford Saturday at the Ashland Middle School. Email your...
