WEATHER OR NOT It was one of Ashland's mildest springs on record Comment By Doyle Hirsch For the Tidings DailyTidings.com By Doyle Hirsch For the Tidings Posted Jul. 10, 2016 at 4:22 PM By Doyle Hirsch For the Tidings Posted Jul. 10, 2016 at 4:22 PM » RELATED CONTENT • Water-wise, it was a good winter • Decemberest December in 30 years • Weather or Not: Add a fifth season to the calendar — smoke... • Weather or Not: June in Redding — er, I mean Ashland » Social News A wet and mild winter was followed by a mild spring with slightly below average precip. A wet and blustery March was succeeded by a very warm dry April and May with many temps in the 80s. This was particularly galling because the primary recreation area for Ashland, the watershed, was mostly closed for months due to the Ashland Forest Resiliency Program's "thinning" operation (read selective logging). Hefty fines would be levied against violators who attempted to circumvent the closures (Ashland's got a thing for hefty fines). This was probably the mildest spring I've recorded in my 30 years at this location and it was essentially a waste. The following are some weather statistics for this spring at my location. The usual micro-climate caveat applies: Your data may vary considerably.
