This workshop is designed to help actors get the most out of their monologues, refine their characters and enhance personal performance. Thomas will also hold a two-day question-and-answer session, "Advice to the Players," from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, and Thursday, Sept. 2. These sessions will address the challenges of being a stage actor in a film environment, and discussions will include tips on working in the industry. Garcia has taught the Meisner Technique to his students for many years, and his professional appearances include roles at OSF, Portland Center Stage and the Oregon Cabaret Theatre. Garcia also has a number of film and television roles for his credits. The Meisner technique of acting is a style that uses instinctive human exchange as the guiding principle, rather than intellectual action, to enable actors to create real behavior within the imaginary circumstances of theater and film.
