The show features color photography with an environmental theme. Through the use of stand-ins for the planet, questions are asked about our treatment of the earth. Suzy Birster Hudson is an AHS parent and SOU student working on her BFA degree. She has been photographing professionally and freelance for over thirty years. Photography such as this shot by Suzy Birster will be on display at the Ashland high School library through May, with a reception for the artist set for May 12. Ashland High is open every week day from 7:45 a.m. to at least 4 p.m., for those who would like to drop by to see these photos. Artist’s Statement The breath on the skin of an orange is equal in proportion to the depth of the atmosphere around the earth. Earth has been gliding through the cosmos for 4.6 billion years. We feel its permanence from our first breath of life. It shines like a jewel in our galaxy. But how long will it nurture us? How much can we take before it takes back? Through this series of photos I have explored variations of impermanence of our earth. It has refused to stay put. It has broken its stays. It has been tossed by waves and blown by wind. The cold air has shrunken it and warm air has expanded it to bursting. It is the seasons and the ebb and flow of time, experienced in a microcosm of several weeks photographing my fun globe. Other items have suggested themselves for playing at being the earth, and I confess that I let them. I saw the organic life of an orange and the sparkle of a marble pretending that they too were the earth. The orange got sucked on by a baby, the marble got lost, but still they retained qualities that were unique to the earth. Fruit, plastic, glass. None are our planet. They are just pretending. Planet for a day. But they remind us of the fragility of our life on this globe and how it could be snatched away by a meteor, a wave or our own abuse. — Suzy Birster DailyTidings.com Home Page Archives | Revels | Classifieds | Real Estate Guide | Weather | Subscribe | Contact Us Copyright 2005 Ashland Daily Tidings and Ottaway Newspapers All Rights Reserved Free Musick Downloads Slippers Ceramic Piggy Banks Heloc Calenders 2005 Women's & Men's Slippers Accelerate Weightloss Products Memory Foam Mattress tcg student loan consolidation Home Equity Loans teleconferencing W2 Forms cortisol weight loss Diamonds Paris Hilton Mesothelioma Free Home-Loan Referrals Tatoos Website Design & Marketing Student Loans African Safari Conference Calls - $50/Month Security Systems Helzberg Diamonds Currancy Exchange Online Casinos Community Student Loans Tatoo Poker Games Homeschooling Auto Insurance Mortgage Calculator Mailing Lists Payday Loans Click Here .:Advertisements:.
