Poll: Change name to Dead Indian Road More than a third of Internet voters would like to see the name of Dead Indian Memorial Road return to its original designation, Dead Indian Road, a Tidings poll shows. In hardy voting, 636 people logged on to www.dailytidings.com this week to answer the question, "Dead Indian Road was changed to Dead Indian Memorial Road, but there are those who feel this is still a slight to Native Americans. How do you feel?" The highest vote-getter was "Return it to Dead Indian Road," with 232 people or 36 percent making that their choice. Another 172 people or 27 percent approve of the addition of the word "Memorial" and picked "Leave it as it is." The remaining voters believe the road should undergo a more complete name change. One hundred twenty-three people or 19 percent voted for "Change it to Grizzly Peak Road," while 76 people or 12 percent liked the idea to "Change it to Memorial Road." Another small minority - 33 people or 5 percent - were in agreement to "Change it to anything except Dead Indian Road or Dead Indian Memorial Road." This week's poll question, posted Saturday, is: "Do you support a U.S.-led war against Iraq?" The Tidings weekly online poll is an unscientific measurement of public opinion and only reflects the views of those who choose to participate. Its sole purpose is to provide greater public input on a variety of issues.
