--> --> All-Stars still in tournament Ashland Daily Tidings The Ashland 13-year-old All-Star squad managed to come back after a disappointing loss Thursday to a tough Medford team to beat Central Point 11-8 on Friday. Ashland was scheduled to play Upper Rogue this morning at 9 a.m. and if Ashland wins that game they were scheduled to play at 3 p.m. today. Central Point came out strong in the first inning scoring six runs. But Ashland wasn't fazed. In the first inning Ashland's first two runs came from wild pitches. Then Robby Bruce, Robert Woodward, Shaun Ray, Sam Littleton and Brendan Chapman all scored to make the score 7-6 in the first. "We were worried when they scored six runs in the first," assistant coach Robert Bruce said. "We call these guys the cardiac kids. The majority of the games in the regular season were a lot like this first inning. The kids play through situations like this and the coaches are pulling their hair out." In the third inning Littleton got a base hit and then scored the eighth run off of a Griff Sollinger hit. In the fourth Shaun Ray drove in another run for Ashland. And then in the 5th inning John Goldberg scored the final run off a base hit from Robby Bruce to make the final score of the game 11-8. "All of these games are hard," Bruce said. "But our guys are tough and just keep playing." Email your...
