Letters: Claims made by Indigo movement need scrutinizing Many people are enthusiastic about the upcoming movie, "Indigo," brought to us by three renowned individuals now residing in Ashland: James Twyman, Neale Donald Walsch and Stephen Simon. But I believe the Indigo Child movement comes with a price - especially for children. Some IC proponents, including James Twyman, infuse children with a bizarre paranormal identity as an evolutionarily advanced new breed of human with a distinct genetic code (perhaps altered by aliens) and supernatural powers. Twyman may say we should focus on the children's message of peace and love, but he certainly capitalizes on their, and his own, purported paranormal abilities. Twyman prefers the terms Children of Oz or Psychic Children. He sells books and holds pricey conferences and fairs around this theme. He markets Internet courses to countless subscribers based on his alleged paranormal communication with so-called "psychic children," Jeshua (Jesus) and a purported secret group of emissaries in Bosnia. He persuades children that they can mentally bend spoons and stick spoons to their faces and "see" while blindfolded after doing "brain respiration," a program created by Twyman's affiliate IlChi Lee. The IC movement could impact innumerable children, especially as proponents convince schools to accommodate the "new children." Twyman purchased a huge property locally for psychic children retreats, etc. As spurious claims are integral to Twyman's growing popularity and income, and as he targets minors here and abroad, I think it's time to pull the curtain on the wizard.
