--> --> Trial set for couple accused of kidnapping ROSEBURG (AP) - A trial date of March 19 was set Monday for a couple accused of kidnapping three of their daughters at gunpoint from child welfare workers following a supervised visit. The trial of Brian and Ruth Christine and their friend, Matthew Gerawan, could not be set any sooner due to conflicts in the schedules of the lawyers involved in the case, said prosecutor Rick Wesenberg. The Christines and Gerawan were all arrested in Montana a few days after the August kidnapping at an Interstate 5 rest stop south of Roseburg. They all pleaded innocent last week to charges of kidnapping, robbery, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and custodial interference. The Christines have remained in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. Gerawan was released after posting the same bail in Montana. Authorities took the Christines three eldest daughters into state custody last year after a complaint the parents were starving the girls to discipline them while the family, traveling from Indiana, was living in a converted city bus in Grants Pass. Another trial on whether to terminate the Christines' parental rights has yet to be scheduled in Grants Pass. The three oldest girls are in Oregon state custody, living with Ruth Christine's parents at an undisclosed location.
