LITHIA PARK Celebration set for new gate, teahouse Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Oct. 27, 2015 at 2:00 AM Updated Oct 27, 2015 at 11:23 AM By Local report Posted Oct. 27, 2015 at 2:00 AM Updated Oct 27, 2015 at 11:23 AM » Social News A Japanese-style garden celebration begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, to mark completion of a new torii gate and teahouse in the Japanese Garden in Lithia Park, the Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission has announced. “The impetus to replace the gate was spearheaded by a generous local donation, which prompted us to rehabilitate the teahouse at the same time,” APRC Parks Superintendent Bruce Dickens said in a statement. The torii gate is a replacement of an earlier gate from years ago while the teahouse, originally built in the early 1980s, was deteriorating. The celebration starts with a ribbon-cutting and concludes with a tea ceremony demonstration. For more information on APRC, go to www.AshlandParksandRec.org or call 541-488-5340.
