He was an incredible person who touched the lives of so many people. Not surprisingly, he maintained his brilliant sense of humor until the end. Stephen was born April 18, 1969 in Houston, Texas. He graduated from St. John's School in 1987, where he excelled in a variety of sports, including track and football. Stephen graduated from Boston College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. He then attended the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont, graduating in 1996. He was an amazing chef and baker, both professionally and to the delight of his friends and family. Stephen truly enjoyed adventure and being outdoors. He was an expert skier and snow boarder, started hang gliding as a hobby,  canoed the Boundary Waters, and spent many summers as a white water rafting guide. At home, he shared his father's love for music and the arts. Stephen also loved traveling throughout the United States and to Germany to visit relatives. While living out West, Stephen met his wife, Nora. In 2005 their daughter, Oona, was born and he was a wonderful father.    Stephen is survived by his wife and daughter; mother, Ursula Kaestner; and sister, Andrea Kaestner. He was preceded in death by his father, Gottfried R. Kaestner. A memorial service for Stephen will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m, Sept. 12, 2015, Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way. In lieu of flowers, contributions to cancer research, or to a trust fund set-up for his daughter, Oona, are appreciated. UTMA Account, c/o Jeff Golub, Trustee 1221 McKinney St. Suite 4500, Houston 77010.
