UNR offered the Ashland High senior a scholarship to cover 93 percent of tuition costs at the Western Athletic Conference school. "Last week I narrowed it down to four colleges from about seven," Johns said. "It came down to basically how much I liked it down there." Although Johns said she got along well with all of the coaches and players she met with at different colleges, the location of UNR and the scholarship amount helped swing her decision "I just really liked being in Nevada," Johns said. "It's really close to Tahoe and still close to home." She's not sure where she'll fit in with the Wolf Pack yet. "I just hope I'm on the traveling team get to play and get better," Johns said. As a Grizzly, Johns has been a three-time state tournament placer, capped with a third-place finish at the 2004 Class 4A championship where she shot a 10-over 154. Johns has also won two American Junior Golf Association titles. The Wolf Pack women's golf program finished fourth of six teams at the WAC championships in April. UNR finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a total score of 931, 67 strokes over par behind Tulsa University, San Jose State University and Southern Methodist University. Under first-year head coach Jody Dansie, the seven-member Wolf Pack team boasts just two seniors for the 2004-05 season. UNR had its best fall performance when the Wolf Pack finished fifth in the 14-team field at the Heather Farr Memorial Intercollegiate Tournament at Interlocken Golf Course in Broomfield, Colo., on October 4 and 5. The team tallied a 36-over-par 621.
