--> --> Jamison: a household name in Ashland Thanks to James Kidd I find my name is practically a household word in Ashland. In years of writing to the Tidings, "my self promotion and exploitation" never got such a boost as from his "Response to a writer who needs to `get over it'" (Letters, Sept. 24). Mr. Kidd and I are concerned over how to combat terrorism and apprehend those responsible for the attacks of Sept. 11. My recommendation: Abolish the IMF and substitute for it an international agency, democratically run by all countries, with the function of providing economic aid, stimulating investment, helping to initiate development policies for third world countries rather than subjugating them to the advanced capitalist world. The IMF is controlled by the United States and its mission is to serve the interests of multinational corporations. Its benefits to the U. S. worker or modest income family have been nil or worse. An international economic and financial agency as proposed, actually helping the poverty-stricken, desperate masses would reduce the incentives toward terrorism. The most crucial need for the U.S. just now is not to increase the supply of potential terrorists. Furthermore, by isolating terrorist networks with, from the news accounts, "nests" in Germany, Canada, New Jersey and other non-Muslim places, it would eventually increase the likelihood of apprehension of those who were directly responsible for the terror attacks on the U.S. Hal Jamison Ashland Email your...
