--> --> Poll: Most support removing emcees Ashland Daily Tidings Only one in five Internet users disapproves of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce's decision to drop two radio talk show hosts as emcees for the Fourth of July parade, a Tidings poll shows. Three out of five approve of the move, and one in five say it doesn't matter. Three hundred and four people logged on to www.dailytidings.com this week to participate in the poll. One hundred eighty-five people or 61 percent said they supported the decision to drop KCMX radio hosts Rose and Garth Harrington from the parade. Fifty-eight people or 19 percent opposed the chamber's decision, while 61 people or 20 percent said the issue was inconsequential. The conservative morning talk show hosts - who have called the parade for the past three years - raised the ire of some in the community for their off-script comments during the parade. A chamber official called the pair "out of touch" with the community. A decision on emcee options for the 2003 parade will be made later this month. The Tidings new poll question, posted Saturday, is: "What do you think about the Oregon Department of Transportation construction in the north end of Ashland?"
