Three others also were cited. During the raids, the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team, with assistance from the Ashland and Talent police departments, discovered ecstasy, hallucinogenic mushrooms, 12 vials of suspected LSD, 60 pounds of pot, six guns and more than $13,000 in cash. Police arrested Ashland resident Derick Heikes, 30, for manufacturing, distributing and possessing marijuana and psilocybin, commonly known as hallucinogenic mushrooms. His bail is set at $100,000. Officers cited and released three men for their involvement in the drug operation. Ashland resident Bruce Thauburn, 65, was cited for possessing marijuana. Talent resident Brandon Winstead, 28, was cited for manufacturing, distributing and possessing marijuana, LSD and ecstasy. Talent resident Shane Winstead, 24, was cited for manufacturing, distributing and possessing marijuana. MADGE began investigating the operation after receiving a report about illegal sales of medical marijuana and other drugs, according to a release. The Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team and Oregon State Police also assisted in the raids Friday. Police conducted two traffic stops in Ashland at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, involving suspects in the case. In the next two hours, detectives searched two Ashland homes and a Talent home. At a home in the 200 block of North First Street in Talent, investigators seized an indoor pot growing operation with 12 marijuana plants, ecstasy, suspected LSD, four firearms and more than $13,000 in cash, believed to be drug proceeds, police said. At a home in the 1600 block of Neil Creek Road in Ashland, police seized the remnants of two outdoor pot growing operations, four marijuana plants, more than 18 pounds of processed pot, 13 ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms, suspected LSD and two firearms. The residence is a registered medical marijuana growing site that police allege is out of compliance. Police also believe the registered grower was involved in marijuana sales. At an apartment in the 3100 block of North Main Street in Ashland, police seized more than 51 pounds of processed marijuana. Police contacted several other men and a woman during the investigation and will refer their cases to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office, according to the release. While searching the home on Neil Creek Road, detectives found a 5-year-old girl, who was later released to her mother. Investigators learned that the girl had been left with Heikes, who was located a substantial distance away at a grow site on the 22-acre property. Police will refer the case to the child welfare division of the Department of Human Services.
