The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC), which bills itself as the only national organization dedicated to workplace diversity and inclusion by expanding opportunities for women and companies in the outdoor, snow, run, and bike industries, hosted the event. MaskIT is committed to providing a sanitary, discreet, and simple method of disposal for used feminine hygiene items for active women. They provide a practical solution for every woman adventurer that is convenient and environmentally conscious. During Pitchfest, each finalist had five minutes to pitch their unique concepts to judges that consisted of top outdoor industry CEOs and business leaders, followed by a question and answer session. Each finalist received pitch training, professional business consulting, and expert advice from a panel of judges including CEOs from such outdoor companies as REI, PrAna, Backcountry, Noosa Yoghurt and Outdoor Research. “Pitchfest is a great experience for women entrepreneurs in the outdoor industries. I’m thrilled MaskIT was able to participate in Pitchfest alongside of other amazing women-led startups,” said Shallan Ramsey, CEO and founder of MaskIT. “I want to thank the OIWC and the judges for the opportunity and business advice to position MaskIT for future success and growth.” MaskIT is an opaque biofilm bag that you stick your hand into, enfolding the used pad or tampon (also the packaging, for the sake of privacy), turn it inside out, seal it with built-in adhesive and it becomes safe, sterile and covert.
