Mrs. James, 73, of Ashland, died July 17, at a private care facility in Medford. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's disease, 1050 NW 2nd Ave., Portland, OR 97219 or to the Southern Oregon Human Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford. She was born on Dec. 21, 1930 in Klamath Falls, OR. The daughter of Harold and Esther Simmers. She attended school in Klamath Falls, graduating from Klamath Union High School. Joy spent many summers at the family ranch on Spencer Creek near Keno, OR. On Sept. 25, 1950 she married Orville C. James in Reno, NV. They moved to Medford that year and then to Ashland in 1955 where they made their home and raised their family. Joy was involved in the Home Extension program and the Ashland Elks Lodge Elkettes. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, bowling, bunko, and hunting for a good bargain. She was a great cook and Master Gardener. Joy is survived by a daughter, Georgia Lynn Siebenlist of Medford; a son, Larry Orville James of Medford; a brother, Harold Simmers of Klamath Falls; four granddaughters, Tara, Jenna, Heidi and Whitney of Medford; a grandson, Justin of Medford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and an infant daughter, Teresa Dawn James. Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford.
