The Grizzlies (2-2) led just 2-1 heading into the second period, where they outscored the Comets 4-2 to take a commanding 6-3 lead. Besides the hat trick, McLaughlin also dished out three assists and Skolnik had two. Also for the Grizzlies, senior Tiffany Schoonover played with a sperated shoulder and was rewarded afterwards with Ashland's player-of-the-game award. "The team actually rallied around itself," said Ashland head coach Chris Bonelli. "Passing for us tonight and team play was just on. We've struggled this year trying to play as a team." The Grizzlies held off a possible Crater comeback by tying the Comets 2-2 in the third period. The win sets up another crucial match-up tonight, when Ashland faces rival and league favorite North Medford. The clash between the league's traditional powerhouses is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m., at The RRRink. "They're the best team in the conference," Bonelli said of North. "They're the team that everybody wants to beat. I think it's going to be a nail-biter. If we play like we did (Tuesday) it should be a close game." Traditionally one of the best teams in southern Oregon, Ashland is less experienced than usual this season. Only three of Ashland's 19 players are seniors, while it has five sophomores.
