BEST BETS 5 picks for live entertainment Comment DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Jul. 28, 2016 at 12:01 AM Posted Jul. 28, 2016 at 12:01 AM » Social News New Millennium Jelly Rollers The old-time and country blues duo — Ashland native Elias Alexander on fiddle, harmonica, guitar and pipes and Max Godfrey on fiddle, guitar and banjo — will perform foot-stompin' music at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, in the Headwaters Room at the Geos Institute, 84 Fourth St., Ashland. Alexander is now based in Boston and Godfrey is from Atlanta. The two play wild fiddle tunes, sing low-down blues and play everything from Appalachian mountain ballads to raucus rags. The duo will present a second concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, in the Butler Band Shell in Ashland's Lithia Park. Admission is $15 to $20 at each event. Robert Cray Band Blues guitarist, singer and five-time Grammy Award winner Robert Cray and his band will perform Friday, July 29, at Red Lily Vineyards, 11777 Highway 238, Jacksonville. Ashland blues band Duke Street will open the show. The concert and dinner is a fundraiser for Kids Unlimited in Medford. VIP tables for eight are $1,500 and include barrel tasting, premium parking, two bottles of sparkling wine, appetizers, drink tickets, dinner and dessert. Individual tickets cost $100 and include dinner and drink tickets. VIP seating is at 4 p.m. All others will be seated at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at kuoregon.org/cray . The Hamazons Improvisational comedy smolders in the Southern Gothic world of American playwright and author Tennessee Williams when The Hamazons — Cil Stengel, Eve Smyth and Kyndra Laughery — present "Long Hot Summer" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 29-30, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. Inspired by such plays as "A Streetcar Named Desire," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "The Glass Menagerie," The Hamazons will deliver a full-length improvised story in two acts with an outcome that will depend on audience suggestions. Watch them take on sordid pasts, raw emotions and dysfunctional family dynamics. Tickets are $15 in advance and can be purchased online at hamazons.com . Tickets will be $18 at the door. Ben Rice Blues Band Portland blues guitarist Ben Rice and his band will perform roots, R&B, funk and soul infused blues and rock at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Howiee's, 16 N. Front St., Medford. Rice's newest album, "Pour Me Some Whiskey," is an amalgam of blues sub-genres, featuring such songs as the hard-rocking "Wreck on You," the fast, swinging jump blues "Chop You Up," the West Coast-style "Don't Worry Mama' and "I Know You Love Me," from the Memphis soul tradition. There is no cover for the show. Justin Moore Country music singer and songwriter Justin Moore will team up with fellow songwriter and producer Jeremy Stover and turn up the guitars and lean into the swagger at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Britt Pavilion, 350 S. First St., Jacksonville. With three full-length albums to his credit, Moore's newest single is "You Look Like I Need a Drink." Americana band Redwood Son will perform at 6 p.m. in the Performance Garden. Tickets are $69 for reserved seating, $42 for lawn, $32 for ages 12 and younger, $296 for premium blanket seating for four, $148 for premium blanket seating for two and can be purchased online at brittfest.org , at the box office, 216 W.
