There are a few among us who feel that is a waste of time. They may be right, but, for some people, a ceremony or a march brings some comfort. We can certainly publicize our concerns. So, perhaps we can only engage in a march of impotence. The Republican will simply laugh at us and call us sore losers; and we are! We know the election was stolen, again. We know that the hope of future democratic elections is fading. So get out and march with your friends. Know that you are not alone with your anger and frustration. Perhaps, should a chink appear in the fascist armor, we will know where and who our friends are. Then we can begin to implement the democratic agenda with our true American values of freedom and equality! The problem with venal, crooked, terroristic regimes of all stripes is that they are totally lacking in integrity. Consequently, they can do any dirty deed in order to take power, and they do. If you are not sure how far they will go, remember the recent news of retributions at CBS. No one has ever investigated the validity of the Bush National Guard duty scandal; OH No! Focus attention on those questionable documents, not whether their message was accurate. Democrats, on the other hand, keep trying to act responsibly. Each of us tends to focus on one issue we think is important. Wake up and smell the coffee. It is the sheer number of important issues that divides the Democratic Party. We have to decide which issues will take a back-burner. Education? No, can't dump that one. Health Care? Nope, that's much too important. Poverty? Well, really poor people probably don't vote and homeless surely don't, so perhaps that can go on the back burner. Whoops! Just lost a whole lot of concerned, voting Democrats. You see what I mean. Howard Dean did focus on issues. He was right, so he had to be eliminated. I suspect that Karl Rove knew that Kerry was not electable, so the Republican-owned media crucified Dean. Kerry soft-shoed the war issue. He had to in order to compensate for his fatal flaw - his antiwar stance after his heroic tour in Vietnam. Kerry was right then, but it was a chink to be exploited. We have to get smarter. We need to figure out how to beat the crooks without being crooked. We have to prioritize our issues, and this takes leadership - a leader who does not try to be all things to all people. Should a leader arise who has integrity and the ability to lead us out of this wilderness, but does not have my priority issues as his/her priorities, then I must swallow my pride and climb on the freedom train. That's not just being anti-bush - it's being pro-America!
