The program will include Morton Gould's "Pavanne" for solo trumpet, Greek folk songs, Gershwin songs and "A Disney Spectacular" with members of the Ashland Middle School summer band camp. The Dixieland Band will open at 6:15 p.m.  Call 541-245-9494. History of Oregon Theaters: Darrel Jabin will present a video and lead a discussion about the History of Oregon Theaters from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Jabin will discuss his research of opera, vaudeville and movie houses across the state. Daedalus Film Festival: The 2014 film “The Normal Heart” will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the Varsity Theatre, 166 E. Main St. The film adapts the Tony award-winning play about the onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s. The films are shown as part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s annual fundraiser to end the spread of HIV/AIDS. Tickets are free, but limited to four per order. Peace Village Festival: The annual summer music, arts and wellness festival will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 15-17, at Jackson WellSprings, 2253 Highway 99 N., Ashland. A lineup of local and national bands will perform on two stages throughout the event, with reggae powerhouse Indubious and tribal rock band BROTHER headlining on Friday. Dogon Lights, Liberation Movement and Alcyon Massive headline Saturday, and Delhi 2 Dublin, Fanna-Fi-Allah, Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda perform on Sunday. Healing arts such as massage, yoga, steam and mineral baths and a full-size swimming pool will be available, as well as many activities for kids. The festival opens at 3 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost $30 in advance for Friday, $35 for Saturday and Sunday, and can be purchased at www.peacevillagefestival.org. Tickets will cost $35 at the gate on Friday, $40 on Saturday and Sunday. Camping and all-access passes are available. Late-night dances will be held at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Dance tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door.    Saturday, Aug. 16 Growers Market: The Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters Market runs from 8:30 to 1 p.m. Saturdays on Oak Street between East Main Street and Lithia Way. Lithia Park Nature Walks: Ashland Parks and Recreation leads free guided walks through Lithia Park at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the park entrance at the Ashland Plaza. West Coast Music Festival: Folk, bluegrass, Americana and country bands Steep Ravine, the Scott Law Bluegrass Dimension, Paige Anderson and the Fearless Kin, along with local favorites Eight Dollar Mountain, Rainy & The Rattlesnakes and the Alice DiMicele Band with Jeff Pevar and Mikey Stevens will gather for the 2014 outdoor music festival held at Greensprings Inn, 11470 Highway 66, Ashland. 'The Battle of Amfar': The HIV/AIDS documentary film “The Battle of Amfar” and the short film “A Last Farewell” will be shown at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Varsity Theatre, 166 E. 'Common Threads': The 1989 documentary film “Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt” will be shown at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Varsity Theatre, 166 E. Main St. The film tells the story of teen Zack Harrington, who committed suicide because he was gay. The film covers Zack’s conservative upbringing in a Bible Belt town divided on the issue of homosexuality. Zack’s parents, Nancy and Van Harrington, will attend for a Q&A session following the film.
