Birds of prey, bird-calling contest highlight Bird Day A hawk was captured by Graham Lewis' camera in the North Mountain Park area during the 2013 Rogue Valley Bird Day event. Wednesday May 10, 2017 at 8:27 PM May 10, 2017 at 8:28 PM Local report Rogue Valley Bird Day, a local celebration of International Migratory Bird Day, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 13, at North Mountain Park, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Bird Day celebrates migratory birds' journey between wintering and breeding grounds. This year the theme is “The Importance of Stopover Habitats." Wildlife Images will bring birds of prey for the public to meet, and experts will give guided bird walks. A bird-calling contest for all ages is planned at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
