SOU athletics department garners national awards Wire Reports Southern Oregon University's intercollegiate athletics publicity materials, created by SOU sports information director Rich Rosenthal, won four first-place awards and received nine top-eight certificates in 2002-03 national publications contests encompassing NAIA and non-NCAA Div. I institutions. The 56-page Raider wrestling publication received top honors in both the NAIA and College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) individual sport contests. The SOU Fall Sports Guide beat out 29 other entries for "Best in the Nation" status in the CoSIDA multi-sport competition, and the 92-page book finished sixth in the NAIA multi-sport contest that was won by the Raider Spring Sports Guide. The 104-page Raider football information book was second in the NAIA contest and fourth among CoSIDA entries, while the women's basketball (CoSIDA fifth-place) and the SOU sports web site (NAIA eighth-place) also received recognition. SOU's Sports Information office has now produced 18 first-place publications awards since 1996.
