Ed was born December 8, 1931 in Bay City, Mich. During the Depression, he developed a strong work ethic by helping his parents on the family farm. He attended Catholic school throughout his youth, which provided him a deep faith in God. In the mid 40’s, the family moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where Ed developed a passion for baseball and was a talented pitcher and played in the minor leagues. On April 16, 1955, he married Yvonne S. Stevens in Montebello, Calif. They started a family and in 1957, decided to move to Ashland, Ore. In the early 1960’s, he began working for the City of Ashland Police Department and then transferred to the City Electric Department. He worked for the city for 25 years. After Yvonne passed away due to an illness, he remarried September 10, 1966 to Judith L. McFarlan. They spent 46 wonderful years together on their beautiful homestead on the north end of town until they decided to move to West Linn, Ore. to be closer to family. Throughout his life, Ed was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. Survivors, in addition to his wife include four daughters, Deborah Pentkowski, Pamela Pentkowski, Susan Leininger, and Bernadette McKee; one son, Steven Pentkowski; along with six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Ed believed in keeping life simple, so he chose not to have a memorial service, but instead, due to his love of children, asked that donations be sent in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
