Editorial: Coldiron era off to a good start It's never easy to be the new guy on the block. The task is only that much harder when you replace a staple of the community for 20 years; the guy that won a state championship. But Ashland High School football coach David Coldiron has launched his era of Grizzly football in fine style. Friday night's 20-13 victory was an unexpected and pleasant surprise for anxious Grizzly fans. Coldiron has a small team, both in numbers on the roster and the size of his players. But if Friday's opening season victory over a solid team from Chico, Calif. is any indication, the heart of Coldiron's players may make the other statistics less relevant. Surely tougher nights lie ahead for the rebuilding Grizzlies. But if one night is an indication of the future, the Coldiron era should be an exciting one.
