Even if that doesn't work out for the eighth-ranked Raiders (23-3 overall, 13-3 CCC) – who moved up two spots in this week's NAIA Division II coaches' poll – they'll have an enviable consolation: a team that looks more equipped by the game to do some damage on the NAIA national stage than any other in recent SOU history. After a pair of 30-point blowouts last week, including Saturday's 84-54 romp against Oregon Tech in the NAIA Game of the Week, the Raiders have won 11 of their last 12 games by an average of 27.3 points. They'll attempt to herd that momentum into Riehm Arena today against Warner Pacific (11-17, 4-12) and Saturday against Concordia (12-13, 6-10). Both games tip off at 5:30 p.m. A clear pecking order in the CCC has been established: 17th-ranked Eastern Oregon, SOU, and everyone else. With two wins and an EOU loss at Northwest or Evergreen, the Raiders can still claim a share of the CCC title and could also earn an automatic berth to their first NAIA tourney since 2009 with a conference tournament title. At worst, though, they appear to be a lock for an at-large bid to the NAIA tourney after missing out by a few spots last season. Lately, triumphs are coming easy for the Raiders, but it didn't start out that way. In their first CCC contest, the Raiders went the last six minutes without a field goal and were upset at Concordia, 67-66. The next night, they held off Warner Pacific in the final minute for a 67-63 victory. That one stands as their only win of the season by less than eight points. SOU has already clinched homecourt advantage through at least the semifinal round of the CCC tourney, which will take place next Tuesday, Friday and on March 2 at campus sites. When undermining your coach goes right: With her 10-for-18, 22-point performance against Oregon Tech, Alexi Smith surpassed former All-American and current Raider assistant Chelsey Zimmerman for No. 9 on SOU's all-time scoring list. She's totaled 1,182 points in 89 games over three seasons, good for an average of 13.3, while hitting double figures 68 times. She has also led the Raiders in rebounding all three of those seasons and is No. 10 in program history with a 622 boards. Only five other Raiders are among the top 10 on both of those lists. Quick hits : • SOU is 11-0 at home this season and has won 14 straight dating back to last year. The Raiders won 22 consecutive home games spanning the end of the 2006-07 season to the start of 2008-09. • The Raiders are averaging 82.5 points per conference game, 7.6 more than EOU and 17.5 more than Northwest, the third-highest scoring team. They'd need to average 98 this weekend to beat the CCC scoring record they set last season. • Eleven of SOU's last 12 opponents have shot under 40 percent. The Raiders have yet to dip under 40 this season. • Ashley Claussen was at it again with OIT in town, going 5-for-6 from 3-point range. She's hit at least four triples on six occasions, all in the last five weeks. She also leads the CCC with 88 assists in conference action (5.5 per game). • Kristen Schoenherr's CCC ranks: 22nd in points per game (10.7), 11th in assists (2.9), 11th in steals (1.4), first in 3-point percentage (52.9), 13th in field-goal percentage (44.2) and 15th in free-throw percentage (75.0). About Warner Pacific : The Knights need two wins and some help this weekend to avoid missing the CCC playoffs for the second straight year. They've lost six of their last eight, but three of those losses came down to the final minute. Three veteran players lead them in scoring: Lindsay Loe (12.4), Jordan Wilcox (11.8) and Daesha Jackson (10.5). They're ninth in the league in scoring as a team (60.6) but fourth in opponents' field-goal percentage (38.1). SOU has won four straight in the head-to-head series after WPC took the previous five meetings. About Concordia : Freshman guard Sierra Dean is shouldering the scoring load at 14.3 points per game in CCC play for the Cavaliers, who are coached by Sean Kelly in his first season after a 15-year stint as an assistant at the University of Portland. The Cavs are eighth in the CCC standings but could climb to as high as the No. 5 seed with a weekend sweep. With seven underclassmen on the roster, they've 1-4 in their last five and notched their only conference road win at Warner Pacific. Dean had the hot hand against SOU with 24 points and four 3-pointers. The Raiders lead the all-time series, 42-25.
