An article which appeared in the J une I, 1965, edition
oi the "New York Tim s" indicated that on that date, a stained glass
window which was a gt iron: the people of Wales to the Sixteenth
. , .. Street Baptist Church, had been dedicated. The stained glass window
' according to the article showed an agonized Negro Jesus being pounded

. is also noted that of the six white people who attended the dedication

It isnoted that considerable naterial, the subject'
matter of GREEEBGHBS investigation and reporting, is contained
herein. This considered necessary and appropriate inasmuch
as the widespread Klan intensification and interview program,
which was undertaken as part of the GREENBOIB8 Special,
naturally included investigative coverage of and interviews
with those individuals previously under investigation in the
BAPBOIB matter. It is felt that certain information relating
to selected suspects and individuals who are primarily of
BAPBOIB interest, even though the information was obtained
during the GREEHBOHBS Special, properly sheuld be reflected

from the Department, both dated 9/22/65. If it has not already
- been done, you should immediately initiate the requested
investigation. Results should be promptly submitted to the
Bureau by letterhead memoranda suitable for dissemination.
In addition to the above, you should imediately
prepare a separate comprehensive letterhead memorandum suitable
for dissemination containing all pertinent information developed
to date from confidential sources pertaining to instant and
related incidents. You must, or course, use care in preparing
this memorandum to insure that the identities or the various
sources are adequately concealed. This memorandum should besubmitted to the Bureau within two weeks of the receipt of this

]The Birmingham Office is currently investigating the
possibility that there is a pattern between the recent bombing
incidents and those which occurred in Birmingham as far back as
19b5, There have been forty-three bombing incidents in
Birmingham sincetl2/ll/H5. A detailed file review and analysis
of available source materials relating to the earlier bombings
have been undertaken. A re ort incorporating this material isin preparation. IT1SpeOl2OI' &dV1S8S this analysis will
develop additional suspects and wi nesses; disclose logical
leads for interviews of persons with possible knowledge of
bombing incidents; and disclose other pertinent information
concerning suspects or witnesses which can be used as s wedge
to encourage their cooperation. The far reaching investigation
to determine the source of the components of the bombs is
being pressed.
' Continuing pressure is being exerted on the prime
suspects involved inthe bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist
