four month long strike by the Automotive Madainists Union, lodge 289. Sheet zrrrcal,
Tcarrzsters and Automotive Painters unions have also been on strike against the dealers-
for several mon1s. We chose S. L. Savidge in particular because he was idcntifieci
by striking workers as one of the leaders of the ear dealers attempts to break time
Also, on October 6, use attcnprted to test an incendiary bomb at Westltmd Buick
as for 921est1unc1's role as preszkbnt of the S2 a-ember King County Autorobilc

said the bureau received a letteryesterday claiming responsibilityor the bombings, which had the

placedbombs at auto dealerships"in support of" the live-month-oldto-site of Auto Machinists Local289.
It was also sent to l-COMO televi-

following is a synopsis of captioned bombing: -
During the evening hours of October 15, 1977, . _
unknown subjects detonated the enclosed IED at captioned
auto dealship causing approximately $3000 worth of damage
to ten motor vehicles. There were three IEDs which were '
combination incendiary/pipe bombs described as one gallon
jugs filled with a flammable liquid possibly gasoline and
acid! with galvanized pipes taped to the jugs. Wiring
for the pipe bombs included Westclox travel alarm clocks
and Eveready 9 volt Alkaline batteries. Black eletrical
and silver ducting tape were utilized. Two devices had »
been placed on the hood of a vehicle while the third '
device was placed on a vehicle trunk lid. A small fire
was ignited following the explosion, however, most of
the damage was done by pipe fragmentation.

Result oi examination:
According to information furnished by your office Q60 through
Q78 represent the remains of three incendiary/pipe bombs consisting of one .
gallon jugs filled with s ammable liquid, possibly gasoline and acid, witha pipe bomb taped to the jugs. Further, you advise the firing system of
the pipe bombs included 9-volts batteries and alarm clocks and that two
of the devices were placed on the hood of a vehicle and the third device
was placed on a vehicle trunk.
The individual components of the incendiary/pipe bomb devices
are described in detail hereetter: _
PIPE COMPONENTS V
Present in each Q63, Q64. Q65, and Q66 is B gabanized metal
pipe end cap. A portion of the threaded section oi a pine nipple is
present in each cap , and the end portion of the Q63, Q64, and Q66 caps
is missing. The Q63 and Q64 caps are l" pipe size and the Q65 and Q66
caps are 8/4" pipe size. 9292
The threaded sections oi pipe broken off inside each pipe cap
appear to be the same pipe size as the respective cap. Present in each
Q67. Q71 and Q78 is the damaged remains of a galvanized metal pipe nipple.
Also present in Q67 is an apparent galvanized metal pipe cap fragment. The
Q77 and Q78 pipe nipples are 3/4" standard weight pipe size pipe nipples.
The Q67 pipe nipple appears to represent a pipe size approximately midway
between 0 3/4" and l" pipe size.

Illinois. The clocks in specimens Q01 and Q62 are the "Trevino" series
model 44240. The particular model of "Trevino" series travel alarm in
specimen Q69 could not be ascertained inasmuch as the only variation in
models within the "Trevino" series is the color of case , which is not Kpresent in the specimen. The particular models utilize luminous hands and 0
hour dots. _ ~
Modications made to each of the travel alarm clocks would have
resulted in a maximum delay of less than 60 minutes.~ 1
