attention has been drawn to the apparent abuse by certain congressmen of
their "franLir1;;" privileges, and in that connection I think the following
statement may be of interest.

publications to which one subscribes. My name and address were correct
but the exjuiry date did not seen to correspond with any publication to
which I subscribe regularly. hfter looking over my checks in payment of
my Sub!Tcripti0r..'s I found that this sticker was normally attached to-copies
of the "C0'.":.*rntr.t-or". when Lowell '.0::'.as was editor of this magazine
_ I was a subscriber, but when it was taken overby scribner and I-jfound that _
- it was pro-nazi, I told them to discontinue sending copiea"toiI|e."$.!»It-"-;f*'_ '
would appear, therefore, that these franked envelopes rere"1:urnod"over"'T,f.' l T-_ -
unaddresscd to the Commentator and that they used the nailing list of -
their subscribers to spread the doctrines of Lindbergh and his kind.
I have been tol that when the "CCmm¬!1t8tOI" changed hands, Lindbergh
. was the prime mover and that it was understood that the paper would be a
medium for airim; his views and those other an; Lmericans whose superior
Ii-SCiO: and knowledbc make about 90% of their fellow countrymen ignorauuses,
ascordint; to t.1c:n.
