their New York Officeintends to make a sa ura ion case" .
on SALERNO. He added that they considered this one of their
sensitive cases which calls for an "all out" immediate thorough
investigation of the returns of SALERNO.
The investigative period of this report predates
the reference report to allow for investigation conducted in the
Miami Division in March and April, 1961. The results of this
investigation was not included in previous report inasmuch as it
pertains to specific requests by the Department of Justice.
No further investigation is contemplated concerning the
principals of Small's Paradise Club, 2294 Seventh Avenue, NYC,since it is not believed there is any connection with the operation
of this club and the nature of this investigation. -
The owners of the autmmobiles observed in the spot check
of Rae's Bar, NYC, on 5/5/51, have been identified through the
Department of Motor Vehicles.
Investigation is currently being conducted concerningthese individuals and when completed, will be included in a report.

Bureau of Investigation FBI! at subject's residence, 1041
North Venetian Drive, Belle Meade Isle, Venetian.Causeway, Miami
Beach, Florida. Subject was not observed during the above
spot checks.

n i 7, 1961, NY Tl advised SA ROBERT F, FETZNERthat[::::fi:f%?i;;considered a front for MIKE COPPOLA, ANTHONYSALEENE::fCN ANG RSOLA and RUBY LAZARUS. The informant stated
that travelled to New York City from Florida recently
to loo over some property for this group which will probably
run into "big money". According to informant, these individuals
intend to invest a considerable amount of money in the purchase
of this property if the price is right. Informant stated that
the above group received a "tip" that the property in the
vicinity of 10th Avenue and 38th Street, New York City, could
be acquired cheap and that at present there is a motel being
built in this vicinity.
On April 21, 1961, NY T-l advised that subject has become
very active in handling baseball betting- Informant stated 3
subject can be observed each afternoon at Amvets Post Number 35,
Miami Beach, Florida. Subject has also been observed at this
Post at night. Informant stated that RUBY LAZARUS, who is
assisting SALERNO, just purchased a 1961 Cadillac bearing
1961 Florida Registration lW9372.
NY T-1 further advised on April 21, 1961, that an
unknown individual has been visiting SALERNO regularly at
Amvets Post Number 35. This individual was described as a
white male, age 45, height 5'7", weight 145, black hair and
appeared to be Italian. This unknown individual was observed
enterin a 1961 Cadillac bearing 1961 Florida Registration[::::::: According to the Dads County License Bureau, this
registration is listed to| |[:jt:::]Miami, Florida, for a I959 Cadillac.
III.l POLICY RACKET
On May 15, 1961, NY T-2 advised wsns thatE;:;:::::]is _ probably identical with a policy
ancer in Harlem. Informant stated tha hangs out
at the El Prado Club, 51st Street and 8t Avenue, New York
City, which is frequented by Spanish people.

reside in Miami area and has for over a year. He purchased a
home at 1041 Venetian Drive, Belle Meade Isle, Venetian Causeway,
Miami Beach, Florida, in July, 1959.
Subject also owns a summer home in Rhinebeck, NY. He
maintains an apartment at 22#2 First Avenue, NYC; NYO has
developed a source at this address who states that no activity
of any kind has been noted at this apartment.
Regular spot checks of this apartment by the NYO have _
not developed any pertinent information due to the absence of bf

become very active in handling baseball betting. This informant

approximately five or six years ago ANTHONY SALERNO and
ANTHONY STHOLLO purchased a parking lot on the Southeast
corner at about 9th or 10th Avenues on 37th or 38th St.,
NYC. Neighborhood investigation of this area reflects
several parking lots in the area, one of which operated
by Kinney Systems, Inc., located at 36# W. 37th St.,
which is near the Southeast corner of 9th Ave., NYC.
Inquiry at Kinney Systems, Inc., Headquarters,
204 W. 55th St., reflects that information concerning
the true owner at the lot at the abpve l ation must beobtained from] 'QKinney Barking
Systems, 1180 Raymond Blvd., Newark ew Jersey. Newarkhas been requested to obtain frmn[::i%:]all background
information concerning the present owners of the parking
lot located at 352-364 W. 37th St., NYC.
The NYO will check other parking systems locate
in the area for any information which possibly might
pertain to the subject.

Subject resides in Miami Beach, Florida, but formerly
resided in the East Harlem Section of New York. Subject main-
taining an apartment in East Harlem but has not been occupied
for over a year. p
Informants have previously reported that subject when
in New York frequents Rao's Bar, ll4th Street and Pleasant Ave.,
New York City. Rao's Bar is a known hangout for gamblers and
individuals from the hoodlum element.
On 5/5/61, a spot check of Rao's Bar was conducted and
numerous hoodlum type individuals were observed congregating in
the bar and it appeared that these men knew each other. These
individuals left the bar in groups of twosand threesand subse?quently departed from the area in autos. ' g?

On 8/2,3,7,8/51, photo fisurs were conducted inthe vicinity of Rae's Bar, 114th St., and Pleasant Ave., NYC,+from concealed locations. Numerous photographs of individualsentering and leaving Rae's were obtained. In addition to this,numerous auto licenses were noted, and the owners are beingdetermined. that their company moved furniture belonging to subject
from the Santini Warehouse to an apartment located at 22#2
First Avenue, New York, New York.

never observed subject at this apartment. She identified
a photograph of JOSEPH MORETTI as the person who pays
the rent of $69.00 a month. MORETTI will be characterized
under the caption Associates.

ENTERPRISES."
Subject has been closely associated with
numerous hoodlums for many years and in particular
with MICHAEL COPPOLA also known as "TRIGER MIKE," a
well-known hoodlum in Miami. Informants have previously
advised that subject worked under OO?POLA in . East
Harlem, New York, rackets and actually took control
when COPPOLA left New York for Florida.
The characterization of COPPOLA will be
located under the caption "ASSOCIATES." A description
of the subject's activities, as referred to above,
will be described under the caption "ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES.
SALERNO has been arrested on two occasions,
which took place in 1945 and l9§7. These arrests
will be described in this report under the caption
"IDENTIFICATION RECORD."
SALERNO has been linked to the lucrative
policy racket in New York over the years and certain
informants state he still maintains some control in
this racket at the present time.
In 1959, subject was accused of participating
in an illegal boxing promotion concerning the title
fight between INGEMAR JOHANNSEN and FLOYD PATTERSON
held June 26, 1959, in New York. This promotion will
be described fully in this report under the caption
"ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES."
Subject has associated with COPPOLA for many
years and is currently observed in his company in Miami
Beach, Florida. SALERNO is now active in baseball

during July, 1959, that ALO was an active member of the
so-called Eastern Syndicate, then comprised of such
figures as FRANK COSTELLO, FRANK ERICKSON, JOE ADONIS,
JAKE and MEYER LANSKY.
1-mo advised SA STEPHEN L. HALPIN on March 18,
1960, that he had been a gambler in Florida but the
Kefauver Hearings and subsequent newspaper publicity
had resulted in the closing of open gambling establishments.
He said, " we still do a little sneak gambling." NY T-7
advised in November, 195%, that JOE ADONIS' place in the
underworld setup in New York City was being taken over by
VINCENT ALO.

SALERNO. The following information was obtained from
MORETTI during an interview by FBI Agents at New York:
JOSEPH MORETTI, Apartment 7F, 850 Seventh
Avenue, New York City, advised he had resided at that
address for eight or nine years, but shared the apartment
with ANTHONY SALERNO whenever SALERNO was in town. He
stated the rent of $99.18 per month is paid by him and
also claimed the furniture as his stating he purchased
it for $1500.00.
MORETTI was unable to identify any other
object in the apartment as his, and admitted that the clothing
and personal articles belonged to SALERNO. He stated he has
known SALERNO for 35 years from the East Harlem area, but
denied knowing of his activities and declined to discuss the
matter with the Agents.
MORETTI stated 1 he had just returned
from a two week stay in Miami, Florida, but denied having
seen or contacting SALERNO while there.

also been a partner in the company and offered the
following explanation.- He stated that he was born and
raised in East Harlem in the vicinity of East 116th
Street and Madison Avenue and came to know SALERNO years
ago when SALERNO was a truck drivers helper. However,
FINE denied that he ever ran with him or his associates.
FINE stated that through the years he would see SALERNO
occasionally in different bars, but again would not
associate with him other than to speak to him.

A. Illegal Boxing Promotion
The New York State Athletic Commission between
September 14 and September 22, 1959, conducted hearings
concerning the PATTERSON-JOHANSSON title bout, June 23, 1959.
On September 14, 1959, WILLIAM ROSENSOHN
testified that he first met TONY SALERNO in April. 1958,
when GILBERT BECKLEY called him and told him to come over
to the Hampshire House to meet a man influential in
boxing. ROSENSOHN stated that when he arrived there was
TONY SALEBNO, FRANK ERICKSON, GUS D'AMATO and about
10 or 12 others.
Later that same night at dinner, ROSENSOHN
stated that he sat next to SALERNO and asked him to put a word
in with D'AMATO to help Teleprompter Corporation to secure
the theater rights to the forthcoming PATTERSON¢HARRIS fight.
SALERNO stated "Oh sure" and advised that CHARLIE BLACK,
a very close friend of D AMATO's would do anything that
SALERNO wanted him to do.
ROSENSOHN testified that he had no further
contact with SALERNO until September, 1958. At that time,
he owed JACK HURLEY, a promoter, $25,000.00 as a result of HURLEY's
assistance in promoting the PATTERSONHARRIS fight. ROSENSOHN
testified that he had not requested this assistance but had
taken HURLEY on only at D'AMATO's insistence and had lost
$5,000.00 on the promotion. As a result he was attempting
to have HURLEY settle for a lesser amount. He testified
that CHARLIE BLACK suggested he call SALERNO to straighten
the matter out. ROSENSOH advised that in September he called
SALERNO, who came over to his apartment while SAM RICHMAN was
there helping HURLEY. SALERNO allegedly told RICHMAN thatHgRLEY should settle for $10,000.00 and leave ROSENSOHN
a one.

ROSENSOHN testified that he did not actually
hear this as he was in the bedroom but that SALERNO told
him this when he came out. He stated that SALERNO added
that if the PATTERSON-JOHANSSON fight, which ROSENSOHN
was trying to promote, should come off, ROSENSOHN should
give HURLEY an additional $2,500.00.

ROSENSOHN testified that after going to
Sweden, and signing up JOHANSSON, he faced a $10,000.00
forfeiture if he did not sign PATTERSON within 40 days. In
October, 1958, he received a call from TONY SALERNO who
wanted to meet him. ROSENSOHN testified that atthis meeting
SALERNO offered to help in getting D'AMATO to sign within
the time period and also offered to participate in the
promotion, however, nothing specific was worked out at that
time.
ROSENSOHN testified that in November, 1958,
he met with SALERNO and BLACK and at that time SALERNO
stated he would put up all of the money for the promotion
with the profits to be split l/3 to him, L/3 to ROSENSOHN
and 1/3 to BLACK.
ROSENSOHN testified that in the mean time, the
40 days expired, however, an extension of time was secured.
In January, 1959, ROSENSOHN testified he returned
from Sweden and received a call from SALERNO, who stated
that VINCENT J. VALELLA would represent SALERNO and take
over the promotion from his standpoint. SALERNO wished to
set up a company and have VALELLA front for him. A
meeting was suggested for January 20 in VALELLA's office.
ROSENSOHN testified that this meeting was
held and was attended by himself, VALELLA, SALERNO, and
CHARLIE BLACK. According to ROSENSOHN, SALERNO did all the
talking and stated that VAEELLA under his direction would

put up $25,000.00 and that BLACK could start drawing $150.00
weekly, in March. VALELLA was to have sole power to sign
checks. At this meeting, corporation papers were drawn
up and signed for the incorporation of "Allstar Sports".
ROSENSOHN testified that he then decided
he would not want BLACK to be an paper as a partner because
of BLACK's association with D'AMATO. It would appear
that D*AMATO was participating as both manager and promoter.
ROSENSOHN testified that SALERNO agreed with him and new
papers were drawn up listing one of VALELLA's secretaries as
a partner although it was understood this was BLACK's
share.
At this time, RCSENSOHN testified SALERNO
also gave him $10,000.00 in one hundred dollar bills for liv
expenses. This was a personal loan and not part of the
promotion. Also at SALERNO's suggestion, ROSENSOHN and
VALELLA were to concoct a story as to where they had
met and it was decided that they had met at a Republican
Meeting.
ROSENSOHN testified that on January 29, 1959,
the fight contracts were signed. JOHANSSON had arrived
January 23 and agreed to HARRY DAVIDCW as his American
manager. Contract provided he should accept American
manager approved.by D'AMATO! ROSENSOHN further stated that
then entered into an argument with FALELLA concerning the
contract and his refusal to assign it to Allstar Sports.
As a result, he commented dealing with the ZECKENDORF
family who entered into the promotion. According to
ROSENSOHN, SALERNO did not object inn: D'AMATO did,
stating that he was only protecting BLACK*s interest.

stated they were not involved in the promotion and agreed
to accq$:5OO one hundred dollar tickets against the
$43,000»OO advanced by them.
I ROSENSOHN testified on May 14, he called SALERNO
and met with him and BLACK at Cass Franklin's place
on 57th Street. SALERNO was eager to go ahead as planned.
Later the same day VALELLA, BLACK, SALERNO, BECKLEY, and L
ROSENSOHN met at the Hampshire House, where it was agreed
to go ahead if they could have the books of RosensohnEnterprises. "
On May 22, ROSENSOHN stated he met with BLACK,
SALERNO, VALELLA, and BECKLEY after the Athletic Commission
had turned down DAVIDOW as American manager. This meant
D'AMATO would not control JOHANNSON through his choice
of managers.
ROSENSOHN testified that on June 3, 1959,
he met with SALERNO and others in the Republican Club on
116th Street.
He further testified that on June 9, 1959,
VALELLA picked up 532 one hundred dollar tickets which were
not to be returnable. DAMATO picked up 250 tickets two
- days prior to the fight. VALELLA returned 400 tickets, 130 of
which were presumably D'AMATO's. ROSENSOHN testified
that on June 18, 1959, SALERNO called him and at a subsequent
meeting with VALELLA and BLACK at Mo Carthy's Steak House,
he was induced to waive all ancillary rights to the fight.
Also at that time VALELLA took out stock certificates in
Rosensohn Enterprises and had ROSENSOHN endorse them on
the back. He kept two and'then gave ROSENSOHN one.

ROSENSOHN testified that on June 22,it
was agreed that 200 working press tickets would be sold
and the money distributed. On the Monday or Tuesday after
the fight, he stated SALERNO and BECKLEY gave him $1,000.00 or
$1,300.00 as his share. SALERNO advised ROSENSOHN that he
would have VAIELLA give him $16,400.00 for additional tickets.
On July 1%, 1959, after VALELLA had publicly
announced he was a majority stockholder in Rosensohn
Enterprises, ROSENSOHN stated he called him and wanted
to speak to TONY. VALELLA then said "who is EOEY" and
from that time on has denied any association with SALEENO.
In subsequent testimoney, BLACK, BECKLEY, and
VALELLA while admitting knowing SALERNO have denied he
participated in the promotion.
As a result ofthe hearings, ROSENSOHN was
suspended as apromoter for three years. GUS A'AMATO,
integer of Former World's Heavyweight Champion FLOYD PATTERSON
had license revoked. According to the "New York Daily
Mirror , a daily New York newspaper, edition of December
10, 1959, VALELLA was indicated on two counts of perjury
for having lied to the State Athletic Commission on
September 15, 1959, and also on August 10, 1959, to the
Grand Jury.
On the first count, according to the article,
the indictment sets forth that SALERNO in the presence of
VALELLA made a payment of $10,000.00 to ROSENSOHN. It is
charged that VALELLA testified falsely before the Athletic
Commission when he denied hearing any conversaticn regarding
the $10,000.00. The second count alleges that the lawyer
lied to the Grand Jury when he denied there was any
discussion of awarding CHARLIE BLACK, a former fight manager,
and confidant of DAMATO, an equal l/3 interest with
VALELLA and ROSENSOHN in Allstar Sports, Incorporated.

On December 10, 1959, VALELLA was arraigned inSpecial Sessions Court where he entered a plea of not guilty
and was released on $1,000.00 bail.
On December l6, 1959, representatives of the
New York District Attorneys Office, secured service on
SALERNO in Miami under the Unifornwitness Act for an
appearance before the New York Grand Jury for questioning
regarding his part in the title fight promotion. The service
was arraigned through SALERNO's attorney, BERNARD FRANK, whohad been in touch with the District Attorney's Office in
New York.
On December 20, 1959, Dade County Circuit CourtJudge MARSHALL WISEHART refused to order SALERNO returned toNew York on the grounds that to return him from Florida
by the ordinary course of travel, SALERNO would have to be
taken through Georgia. Georgia is one of the states that hasnot signed the Uniform witness Act. An appeal on behalf of
New York authorities is being entered by JACK WOOD of theFlorida State Atttorneys Office. It is noted that JudgeMARSHALL NISEHART was the same judge who in l9A6 granted
SALERNO a divorce from his wife.
NY T~4 adyised that his experience in the pastwith Miami, Florida, officials has caused him to be very waryin his dealings with them. He stated that BERNARD FRANK,
SALERNOs attorney, advised him that there would be notrouble. NY T-4 said he expected a certain amount of
resistance from Miami Officials. NY T4 said that he wasadvised by representatives of the State Attorneys Office,that the Judge who was to hear the matter, Judge MARSHALL
WISEHART, was all right . NY T~4 stated however, that as thehearing progressed, he formed a very definite opinion fromWISEHART-s action in court that a good fix" was in.
As an example, NY T~A, cited the Judge'sreasoning in refusing to return SALERNO to New York, when theJudge reasoned that in the normal course of travel from Miamito New York, it would be necessary to go through the Stateof Georgia. Inasmuch as Georgia does not recognize theUniform Witness Act, the Judge refused to return him to New YorkNY TA _

related that it was stated in court for the record that
SALERNO would be returned by sea in a sufficiently circuitous
route so that he could not possibly come in contact with the
State of Georgia. when the court refused to consent to
this it was then offered to return SALEBNO by air, and at an
altitude sufficiently high so that in the event the pane were
forced down it woulinot come into contact with the State of
Georgia. NY T-h said that Judge finally made some comment
in reference to the shooting of missiles from Cape Canaveral
and how they might in someway force SALERNO down.
The Judge also refusedto define what he meant by the normal
course of travel. NY T4 noted that Florida is bounded
by Georgia and Alabama neither of which have recognized
the Uniform Witness Act, therefore,under this ruling
it is extremely difficult to return any person from Florida,
making Florida even more of a haven for the underworld.
Assistant District Attorney FRANK CLARK,
New York City, advised on June 22, 1961, that VINCENT J.
VALELLA was acquitted of two perjury counts by a Jury
directed to do so by Acting General Sessions Judge BENJAMIN
GROSSMAN. Judge GROSSMAN directed the Jury action after refusing
to accept a tape recording offered in evidence by the prosecution

This group, according to the informant, does a bookmaking
business of about $lOQGOO;OO per day on baseball. SALERNO,
according to the iformant,'is the head of this group.
when a ballgame is in progress, SALERNO is kept advised of the
batter, the balls and strikes, outs, and so forth, per inning,
as some bets are made on other phases of the game beyond the out
come of the game. Informant states that SALERNO has been
at the mid-town Social Club, Miami Beach, Florida, on
a daily basis. Informant states that individuals report to
him as each baseball batter is announced.
Informant advised that according to his
information, FAT TONY SALEBNO, is the head of all sports
events bookmaking activities in the Miami Beach area and
that informantlgas heard that SALEBNO bets a couple
of thousand/on a single game.
Informant suggested that FAT TONY SALERNO
can also be observed, on a daily bases, hanging around
the Seagull Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida, and is taking big
action betting on baseball.
On June 2%, 1960, informant advised that
SALERNO bet heavily on FLOYD PATTERSON within the last six
hour period before the fight, and of course, when PATTERSON
won, SALERNO realized a large sum of money.

themselves.
NY T-9 related in August, 1958, that "FAT
TONY" SALERNO was a numbers banker and employed approximately
400 controllers who each in turn hired approximately l0
runners. Informant said that about one year ago the number 100
was hit and the word got out that the bank couldn't
pay off. A few days later, informant heard that "FAT TONY"
went to Eetroit to get the necessary money. NY Tl2 advised on
August 6, 1958, that in the event the New York City Police
Department raids a numbers drop, the banks open the next day
and winning numbers are carried over from the previous day.
NY T8, related on August 18, 1958, that it was talk
throughout the underworld that "FAT TONY" SALERNO was an
underling of MIKE COPPOLA. He said that all activities
in the East 8ide area of Upper New York City including crap
games, numbers, and the protection racket are run by MIKE
COPPOLA and the JOEY RAO crowd. Although neither RAO nor
COPPOLA assumes an actual part in these activities, NY T-8
said that they still get a large part of the proceeds.

the controlling interest in numbers, bookmaking, shylocking
and Italian lottery in New York City. NY T1O said he
believed that the majority of shylocks operating in New York
City get their operating money from "FAT TONY". Inirmant
said that "FAT TONY" frequents the Play Room Bar on West
58th Street, New York City.
On April 21, 1961, NY T5 advised that subject
has become very active in handling baseball betting. Informant
stated subject can be observed each afternnon at Amvets Post
Number 35, Miami Beach, Florida. Subject has also been
observed at this Post at night. Informant stated that RUBY
LAZARUS, who is assisting SALERNO, Just purchased a
1961 Cadillac bearing 1961 Florida Registration 1w9372.
NY T-5 further advised on April 21, 1961, that
an unknown individual has been visiting SALERNO regularly at
Amvets Post Number 35. This individual was described as a
white male, age #5 height 5'7 , weight 145, black hair and
appeared to be Italian. This unknown individual was observed
entering a 1961 Cadillac bearing 1961 Florida Registration
1we385. According to the Dade County License Bureau, this
registration is listed to ALEX ROSATO, 1119 Northeast lOHth
Street, Miami, Florida, for a 1959 Cadillac.
NY Tl6 advised on June 13, 1961, that
SALERNO to his knowledge has not returned from Florida
and it was his_understanding that SALERNO was operating a numbers ,
game in Harlem and was catering to the "Jewish crowd"
in Florida. He advised that in the absence of SALERNO,
his top lieutenant, "Sharkey",was still in control of
the numbers in Harlem.
On June 30, 1961, NY T~5 advised that
MICHAEL COPPOLA is "enty burned up" over the fact that

the Recorder of Deeds Office reflects that in Mortgage
Book 2369, page 318, date September 15, 1950, BEN KARPF

property. This mortgage states that it is subject to
a first mortgage issued to the First Federal Savings
and Loan Association, dated August 25, 1950, and re-
corded to Clerk's File Number Zl04976, September 15,
1950, as well as the mortgage in favor of the Zaret
Construction Company, dated March 7» 1951, and,re-
corded March 8, 1951, to Clerk's File Number AA245H4.
To this mortgage was attached a $25,000.00 note, dated
November 8, 1951, payable to FRED F. BRENNER, at the
North Shore Bank, with a ten per cent interest rate.
This note was payable in the amount of
$1,500.00 on February, March, May, October, and
November of each year, each to the principal, starting
February 1, 1952, and going until February 1, 1956,

tension agreement was drewn up in consideration of pay-
ment of $6,250.00 on the part of DE LUCIA, of which

ment of the balance of $20,000.00 plus five per cent

as owner of the ks acres of property on Oriole Road,
Town of Red Hook, New York. He stated that the assets
valuation of property and buildings totals $6,500.00.

1552, Page 356, reveals that a Warranty Deed was execu-
ted July 21, 1959, by ADDIE J. KIMBROUGH to ANTHONY
SALERNO and BERNIOE SALERNO, his wife, 1041 North
Venetian Drive, Miami, Florida, for the consideration
of $10.00 and other valuable consideration and covers
the sale of Lot 21 and the East #5 feet of Lot 20 in
Block 1 of Biscayne Island Resubdivision, according to
Plat Book 40, Page 3%, of Public Records of Dade County,
Florida.
Public Records of Dade County, Florida, Book
152%, Page 60, reveals a mortgage for $25,000.00 was
executed by ANTHONY and BERNICE SALERNO to the First
Federal Savings and Loan Association of Miami on June
29, 1959, covering the purchase of Biscayne Island
Resubdivision, according to Plat Book 40 at Page 34 of
the Public Records of Dade County, Florida. The mort-
gage was signed in New York City on July 3, 1959, by
ANTHONY SALERNO and BERNICE SALERNO. It was witnessed
by FRANCES TOSOA and FRANK TRINOHESE. It was notarized
by TRINOHESE of New York City, on July 3, 1959.
I ¬LFirst NationalSavings and Loan Association, 100 Nor ,east First
Avenue made available his loan records as to ANTHONY ALEMO and they revealed the following:

cash and bank deposits, and had other real estate, free
of mortgage, valued at $50,000.00, making his total
assest $73,000.00. In addition, SALERNO furnished in-
formation that he had no liabilities and his annual in-
come was $30,000.00.

Company, 1770 Bay Road, Miami Beach, advised ANTHONY
SALERNO was unknown to him until he walked into his

Hotel, Miami. SALERNO asked if he would consider doing
some work on a home he was buying at 1041 North Venetian
Drive and after some conversation as to what SALERNO de-
sired, they got together and his company built SALERNO
another room and a swimming pool. He said it cost SALEBNO
about $15,000.00 which was paid for in cash. He said he
also saw SALERNO about twice and all the other arrange-
ments were handled by Mrs. SALERNO. He related he knew
nothing concerning SALERNO other than that which he read
in the newspaper. From some comments dropped.by Mrs.
SALERNO, he gathered SALERNO was out of town a great
deal.

stated this was a house sale; that he dud not know the
SALERNOs and could furnish no additional information.
