You will recall that Oliver owers, father of the
U-2 pilot, was quoted as stating"that is*s"on&#39;s plane had not
been shot down by the Soviets. The father allegedly obtainedthi:
information when he visited his son in Moscow. Recently the Sovie
publicized a statement attributed to Gary Powers wherein he diffel
with his father. The pilot is quoted as stating that he was shot
down by the Soviets at 2. height of approximately 68,000 feet.
