He was born May 14, 1945 in Bandon, Ore., to Ted Cadman and Gloria D. Raniele Cadman. After attending Myrtle Creek High School in Bandon, he earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, and an M.D. from the Oregon Health & Science University. His first significant career role was the Director of the Cancer Research Institute at U.C.S.F., followed by roles as the Chief of Internal Medicine and Vice President of Yale New Haven Hospital. In 1999, Dr. Cadman became the Dean of the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, where he served until his retirement in 2010. Aside from his career, Dr. Cadman dedicated his time to advancing awareness of the health benefits from running. He competed in countless races on both the East and West coasts over his lifetime, setting records in many of them. Dr. Cadman was preceded in death by his father, Ted Cadman. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Wilson; his wife Mary Cadman; three brothers; three sons; and four grandchildren.
