Shannon Lee Hilton, 44, of the 1100 block of Rustler Peak Street in Central Point pleaded not guilty  to charges of second- and fourth-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Second-degree assault is a Measure 11 crime that carries a minimum sentence of five years and 10 months in prison upon conviction in Oregon. On Dec. 10, 2014, Central Point police responded to a report of an assault at Hilton's address and contacted the alleged victim, who had multiple cuts, scratches, bumps and bruises, according to a police affidavit. The alleged victim said Hilton, her girlfriend, had beaten her up with a police baton and also kicked her in the head and back. The alleged victim's injuries were consistent with her description of the attack, the police affidavit said. The alleged victim was admitted to Providence Medford Medical Center with broken ribs and had to have a chest tube inserted, according to the affidavit.
