The Jackson County Sheriff's Department said in a news release today that surveillance video captured at the market shows Robert Kahlil Davies-Calhoun, 29, of Central Point, loitered inside and in front of the store for about a half-hour before allegedly shooting Douglas Mitchell Spaur, 53, of Central Point, while Spaur sat in his truck. An autopsy performed Wednesday shows Spaur died of multiple gunshot wounds, the sheriff's department said in the release. In the video, Davies-Calhoun appears to focus his attention on Spaur when Spaur pulls into the parking lot in his truck and goes inside the market, the release said. As Spaur returns to his vehicle, Davies-Calhoun confronts him with a handgun, the release said. There is no indication that Spaur knew Davies-Calhoun, the sheriff's department said. Davies-Calhoun was arrested by sheriff's deputies within minutes of the shooting on Gibbon Road not far from where he lives. He remains in jail on a murder charge. A grand jury is set to hear the case Thursday. The sheriff's department released surveillance video stills captured at the Stop N Go Market, 6079 Table Rock Road, Central Point. Detectives are following up on tips received from the public on the shooting, but are still seeking further information. They would like to hear from close friends of Spaur or anyone who had contact with him in the days prior to the shooting.
