Copple in the race for Position 3 on Central Point District 6 Board of Directors, while challenger Cathy Salmon was leading incumbent Ed Lindbloom for Position 5. In the Position 3 race, Jackson County election numbers released at 10:54 p.m. showed Case leading Copple 1,877 votes to 1,184. Case has served on the board since 1994, and previously told the Mail Tribune the experience had given her a good idea of "what works and what doesn't." "You don't stay in a position like this if people don't think you're honest and respect what they have to say," she said Tuesday. Copple is a Gold Hill resident who had campaigned on increasing parent communication and involvement in the district. In the Position 5 race, Salmon looked to topple the candidate who beat her once before in the 2013 election, and she was leading Lindbloom 1,787 votes to 1,348. Lindbloom, a financial advisor with Edward Jones, was appointed to the board in 2012 after the death of Kerry Bradshaw, the remainder of whose term ends June 30. Salmon, who worked for the school district from 1974 to 2011, has expressed concerns about declining enrollment, while saying she doesn't have any particular agenda. Lindbloom had previously questioned whether Salmon could remain truly impartial on the board as a former district employee, a notion she rejects. "(The board) had a special interest — I have no special interests," she said, adding that she's "very excited" abut change on the board.
