Two counts of attempted assault of a peace officer were added to the string of similar charges. Sowell faces after an assault at the Jackson County Jail Thursday. He remained in jail without bail. Drugs — Chad Michael Kayser, 27, of the 1700 block of Hart Street, Medford. Medford police arrested Kayser late Thursday on a charge of possession of amphetamines. He was lodged in jail on $5,000 bail, then released because of crowded conditions. Kidnap — Christopher Rob Josephson, 28, of the 3300 block of Highway 234, White City. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy arrested Josephson Friday on charges of first-degree kidnapping, fourth-degree assault, harassment and endangering another. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Friday night on $1,011,000 bail. Theft — Tina Louise Parshall, 26, of 300 block of Joseph Circle, Gold Hill. Jackson County sheriff’s and Medford police detectives teamed up to crack down on car clouts throughout the Rogue Valley and arrested Parshall Friday on 30 theft-related charges. Investigators claim that she is a conspirator with Eric One Ziegler, 30, a suspect in numerous break-ins. Parshall was lodged in jail, but police are still seeking Ziegler, who was last seen near Ashland. Theft — Krista Anne Hayes, 27, of the 3100 block of Sterling Creek Road, Jacksonville. Hayes appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court Friday on an indictment charging her with two counts of first-degree theft. She was booked into jail and released. Theft — Karina Kay Hazen, 41, of the 3100 block of Sterling Creek Road, Jacksonville. Hazen appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court Friday on an indictment charging her with two counts of first-degree theft. She was booked into jail and released. Advertisement Riot — Daniel Lee Hutchinson, 22, of the 7200 block of Kramer Drive, White City. Hutchinson appeared in Circuit Court Friday on an indictment charging him with riot for his involvement in a racially charged fight in White City in October. He was booked into jail and released. Theft — Christina May Laidlaw, 18, of the 13200 block of Butte Falls Highway, Butte Falls. Laidlaw appeared in Circuit Court Friday on an indictment charging her with first- degree theft, identity theft and first-degree forgery. She was booked into jail and released. Drugs — Paul David Hamlett III, 19, of the 1600 block of Easy Street, Medford. Hamlett appeared in Circuit Court Friday on an indictment charging him with possession of amphetamines. He was booked into jail and released. Crime reports Burglary — 2700 block of Avenue A, White City. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy took a report Tuesday of a burglary in which a person reported the following items stolen: $5,500 worth of comics books, $3,500 worth of Magic: The Gathering collectible cards, stamps, coins, guns, a grenade launcher, a camera and a computer. The total estimated value of the items reported stolen was $10,500. The burglary apparently happened between Jan. 30 and Feb. 3 while the owner was away. Theft — 700 block of Royal Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report Thursday of a theft of a stereo, amplifier, compact discs, two pellet guns and a knife. The items had an estimated value of $768. Theft — 600 block of Hamilton Street, Medford. Medford police took a report Thursday of a theft of a computer valued at $899. Theft — 6800 block of Highway 62, White City. A deputy took a report Friday of a theft of a gun valued at $430 from a vehicle. Fire calls Transformer fire — 200 block of West Pine Street, Central Point. A malfunctioning transformer on a power pole near Mae Richardson Elementary School caught fire about 10:40 a.m. Friday. Jackson County Fire District No. 3 firefighters extinguished the blaze. Then, Pacific Power crews disconnected power to the school for about two and a half hours to repair the transformer, restoring electricity about 2 p.m. School Principal Susan Dippel said classes, lunch and other activities, including a DARE graduation, went smoothly even without power. Car fire — Interstate 5, mile 27. Medford firefighters quickly put out a blaze that burned a car being hauled on a flatbed truck about 6 p.m. The truck’s driver quickly unloaded the burning car to prevent the truck from burning, but the car was fully ablaze when crews arrived, fire officials said. Injury accident Car-bicycle crash — 400 block of East Gregory Road, Central Point. A homeless man riding a bike wobbled into the path of an elderly woman driving a car about 6:20 p.m., the Jackson County sheriff’s department reported. The woman was driving slowly, so the biker suffered only minor injuries. He was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center.
