LAKE? McKinney and Carpenter who announced that they would carry passengers in their airplane Sunday did not complete their preparations in time to make any passenger carrying flights but did get their plane in the air and flew a short time. They also made a short flight Monday and state positively that they will fly with passengers during the remainder of the week. Trips over Crater Lake and return and trips to Klamath Falls in 40 minutes may be arranged for as well as the short passenger flights. They will fly the rest of the week from the fair grounds aviation field and will make a free exhibition flight next Sunday. MONEY IN WRONG DRAWER THOUGHT STATION ROBBED When Jack Heath, service station operator for the Associated Oil company, opened the station this morning he was of the conviction that the company office had been robbed of the station cash during the night. Every night after closing the station a small amount of cash which has not been banked is placed in an unlocked drawer in the company office. There is another drawer next to the one where the money is kept that is always locked during the night. Last night the latter drawer was open and Heath dropped the money bag into it and closed it. This morning he opened the drawer where the money is usually kept and found nothing there. Certain that he had been robbed and visualizing himself wandering around all winter without the new overcoat he has been planning on buying Jack went across the street to the Oaks restaurant and borrowed $10 to start up the business at the station with. When Herbert Alford, accountant, arrived at the office the loss was reported to him and he discovered the money in the wrong drawer. LOCAL AND PERSONAL Many of the public school pupils in nice weather ride back and forth from school on bicycles. This forenoon in the rear Washington school yard were counted 38 bicycles parked under the trees. ------ A scorpion was found yesterday by a California family who had come here recently from the southern state. The scorpion was small, being less than an inch in length. It was found upon the pillow of the bed in which the couple had slept. Its presence cannot be accounted for, unless it was brought up in their baggage. The scorpion was vicious looking having pincers and a long tail which it uses to sting with.
