Medford police arrest teen after threats of school shootings Thursday Nov 16, 2017 at 9:20 AM Nov 16, 2017 at 9:34 AM Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on a disorderly conduct charge for allegedly threatening that a school shooting would take place at North and South Medford high schools today. The agency began receiving reports of the threats just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, with several people reporting about text messages and social media posts that made the threats, according to a news release. "Due to the severity of the threats and the number of complaints being received, school resource officers and a detective responded immediately," the release says. Police arrested  the teen at 12:30 a.m. today at a Medford home. He was lodged at Jackson County Juvenile Detention on a disorderly conduct charge. Police declined to release the boy's name. "The investigation revealed the suspect did post the threats but it was found he had no means available to act on these threats," the news release says. "The suspect admitted he had no intent of carrying them out." School will operate as normal today, "with additional police presence," according to the Medford School District's Twitter account.
