Bartlett St., Medford. Students will explore themes around school safety through theater performances, presentations and interactive workshops. William Florian: The singer, songwriter and former lead vocalist of the New Christy Minstrels will celebrate the folk movement of the '60s with "Those Were the Days," a program of popular folk music, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in the auditorium at North Medford High School, 1900 N. Keene Way Drive. Along with the high points of folk, Florian's shows include humorous firsthand accounts of his experiences with such notable artists as John Denver. The success of his continuous tours is a testament to the passion for folk. The concert is part of Jackson County Community Concert Associations' 2014-2015 season. Poundstone's ingenious brand of humor can be heard on the NPR news quiz show "Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!" An Evening of Scottish Music: Multi-instrumentalist Brian Freeman returns with his annual celebration of the birthday of Scottish poet and songwriter Robert Burns at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 N. Second St., Ashland. Freeman — who plays guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo and autoharp — will present Burns' "Auld Lang Syne," "Comin' Thro' the Rye" and others, along with his own original and contemporary Celtic-style folk music. Freeman has performed the Ploughman Poet's songs at Highland games in Scotland and the U.S., and has recorded much of the lyricist's music. Main St. The recital is the result of Franks' studies with Alexander Tutunov, professor of piano and artist in residence at Southern Oregon University.
