Roseburg tops North ROSEBURG - The Roseburg Indians picked up a 10-inning win and North Medford got beat up Wednesday in a non-conference baseball game at Legion Field. Grant Goodell's two-out single up the middle lifted the Indians to a 4-3 victory in a game that left Black Tornado starters doubtful for Saturday's Southern Oregon Conference doubleheader at Klamath Union. North Medford scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a 6-2 deficit. The Tornado stroked six hits in the inning, including three straight by Evan McArthur, Shawn Backstrom and Dustin Butler. McArthur scored on a the front end of double steal, while Backstrom took home on a wild pitch. Phil Ouellette capped the uprising with a base hit to score Devon Zupan and tie it, 6-6. Chris Brewington pitched four innings of scoreless relief before running into trouble in the bottom of the 10th. Ben Cooper walked to start the rally and was sacrificed to second by Sam DeBell. One out later, Nick Bowers was intentionally walked to set the stage for Goodell. Freshman Robby Folsom, North's No. 1 catcher, was the starting pitcher but turned his ankle and gave way to McArthur in the third inning. Brent Kircher was injured in a collision at first base. Softball CRATER 3, ASHLAND 2 - At Central Point, Crater jumped on Ashland for three runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a non-conference win. Diane Steele keyed the early outburst with a two-run double. Heather Quinn added two hits for the Comets (13-3).
