Shirley Rae Parton The memorial service for Shirley Rae Parton will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trail Christian Fellowship near Shady Cove. Pastor Don Holmes will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford. Mrs. Parton, 68, of Eagle Point, died Monday (Sept. 10, 2001) at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501. She was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Medford, a daughter of Ernest K. and Letha F. Stephenson. On Sept. 16, 1974, in Reno, Nev., she married James D. Parton, who survives. She was a lifelong resident of the Rogue Valley. Mrs. Parton was an assistant in the Children's Services Division at the Department of Human Resources for more than 20 years. She was a member of Trail Christian Fellowship in Shady Cove. Mrs. Parton enjoyed reading and gardening. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include eight sons, Jim Taylor and Derrick Parton, both Medford, Jeff Taylor, Butte Falls, Eric Parton, Eagle Point, Floyd Taylor, Sheridan, Mike Parton, Lacey, Wash., Ed Cates, Camas Valley, and Dennis Parton, Sun Valley, Nev.; three daughters, Tammy Patterson and Andrea Templer, both Medford, and Lori Taylor, Tigard; her mother, Letha F. Stephenson, Novato, Calif.; a sister, Arline Basey, Novato, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. Richard H. Kivett The graveside service for Richard H. Kivett will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sterlingville Cemetery near Jacksonville. Mr. Kivett, 68, of Milton-Freewater, formerly of Jacksonville and Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2001) at Walla Walla General Hospital in Washington. He was born June 18, 1933, in Jacksonville, a son of Elmer Labon and Luella May (Hulse) Kivett. He was raised in Pendleton and attended two years of college. He lived in Medford from time to time throughout his lifetime. Mr. Kivett owned and operated a long-haul truck-driving business, retiring about one year ago. He avidly studied the Bible and enjoyed fishing, buying and collecting antiques and furniture restoration. Survivors include his wife, Diana, Richland, Wash.; two daughters, Jewele Turner and Jeanine Kivett, both Medford; a son, Jason, Medford; three sisters, Beatrice Downs, Jacksonville, Phyllis Ainsworth, Milton-Freewater, and Esther Marple, Vale; a brother, Bob Hodge, Jacksonville; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three infant brothers. Arrangements: Mountain View Funeral Chapel, Walla Walla, Wash. Max Flowers Jr. The memorial service for Max Flowers Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Central Point. Mr. Flowers, 80, of Central Point, died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2001) at his home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Central Point Foundation, 456 W. Pine St., Central Point, OR 97502. He was born July 15, 1921, in Scotland County, Mo., the son of Otho Max and Nettie Louise Flowers. He received a degree in osteopathic medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He married M. Cleone Lewis, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959. Mr. Flowers was an osteopathic physician. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Flowers served as president of the Oregon Osteopathic Association. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Hillah Shrine and the Central Point Lions Club. He enjoyed golf, dancing, gardening and camping. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Cynthia and Gayle; and two sons, Thomas and John; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford. Carol Jeanette O'Neal The memorial service for Carol Jeanette O'Neal will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ashland Christian Fellowship. Private inurnment will be in Concord Cemetery, West Concord, Minn. Mrs. O'Neal, 79, of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001) at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Clara (Allen) Bakken. On June 2, 1989, in Petaluma, Calif., she married Marty O'Neal, who survives. They moved to Ashland 11/2 years ago from Petaluma. Mrs. O'Neal was a member of Ashland Christian Fellowship. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Roger Gibbons, Ashland; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Gibbons. Laura Erva Belle Hegler The graveside service for Laura Erva Belle Hegler will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Etna Cemetery in Etna, Calif. Mrs. Hegler, 88, of Talent, died Tuesday (Sept. 11, 2001). She was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Shelbyville, Ill., one of six children of William Oren and Eliza Ann Bechtel. In 1928, in Nowata, Okla., she married Frank Johnson, who died in 1965. They lived in Long Beach, Calif., from 1941 to 1961. They purchased the property known as "the old Berksynder Ranch" in Callahan, Calif., in 1961. In May 1968, she married Arthur A. Hegler of Klamath River. They spent 26 years farming and ranching, until his death in 1994. Mrs. Hegler spent her life farming and ranching. She had also been a florist in her younger years. She enjoyed the outdoors, riding horses in the mountains with her husbands, gardening and working with flowers. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Hebert, Phoenix; a son, Keith Johnson, Bartlesville, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point. Ronald Earl Bigelow Ronald Earl Bigelow, 63, of Eagle Point, died Monday (Sept. 10, 2001) at his home. No service is planned. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery. He was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Newberg, a son of Lloyd Edwin and Bernice (Skoals) Bigelow. Mr. Bigelow worked in road construction as a heavy equipment operator. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. Survivors include two sons, Ron Jr., Talent, and Brett, Medford; a daughter, Brenda Bigelow, Kenai, Alaska; three sisters, Opal Krieger, Pendleton, Viola Mathiesen, Portland, and Leona Blahaer, Seattle; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Bigelow, and his companion of 25 years, Joyce Johnson. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford. Myra Lynn Prickett Myra Lynn Prickett, 68, formerly of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. The memorial service will be held in Ashland at a later date. She was born June 16, 1933, in Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of Max H. and Marjorie (Gibler) Embree. She was raised in Hutchinson, Kan., and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951. In 1954, she graduated from Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kan. On July 11, 1953, in Tucumcari, N.M., she married Gary L. Prickett. They later divorced. She moved to Ashland in 1968 from Greeley, Colo. Ms. Prickett worked as a registered nurse at Rogue Valley Medical Center from 1974 to 1987. She later worked for the American Red Cross, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Chapter BN-PEO. Ms. Prickett enjoyed golfing and antiquing. Survivors include a daughter, Beth Ditmarson, Beaverton; her mother, Marjorie Gibler Embree, Hutchinson, Kan.; a brother, Max Harold Embree, Colby, Kan.; and two granddaughters. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Irving Leon Korn Irving Leon Korn, 78, of Ashland, died Tuesday, (Sept. 11, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Funeral services and interment will be at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles. An Ashland memorial service will be announced later by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland. Janice Aitken Janice Aitken, 66, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Sept. 11, 2001) at Laurel Hill Nursing Center. Arrangements will be announced by Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass. Emma A.
