OCF awards nearly half-million dollars to local nonprofits Wednesday Nov 30, 2016 at 11:52 AM Nov 30, 2016 at 3:42 PM The Oregon Community Foundation this week announced the award of Community Grants totaling $488,852 to 17 Jackson County nonprofit organizations. This is the most money distributed locally through OCF’s highly competitive statewide grants program. The Community Grants and many others will be presented at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Temple Emek Shalom, 1800 E. Main St., Ashland. Here are the grant awards: Asante Foundation, $50,000 Ashland Independent Film Festival, $18,035 Compass House, $22,817 Coyote Trails School of Nature, $10,909 Down Syndrome Association of Southern Oregon, $8,000 Geos Institute, $20,000 JPR Foundation, $50,000 Kid Time Discovery Experience, $40,000 Living Opportunities Inc., $47,500 Lotus Rising Project, $6,591 Medford First Christian Church, $5,000 Mt. Ashland Association, $20,000 Rogue Retreat, $50,000 Rogue River School District, $15,000 ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum, $20,000 Southern Oregon ESD, $30,000 Southern Oregon Land Conservancy, $75,000 Statewide, OCF announced $8.8 million in grants, including $3.7 million for the Community Grants program. Community Grants represent a relatively small portion of the foundation’s total grant-making and scholarships, which exceeded $100 million in 2015. Other types include advised fund grants, field of interest grants, designated grants, education initiative grants and many others.
